General Programs

We host seven general programs each year. Each program features a guest speaker and focuses on a different topic spanning all eras of local history, from entertainment to literature to sports to the military. The current schedule of lectures and programs can be found on our monthly Programs page.

Special Events

The UMHA Special Activities committee occasionally arranges local tours that are interesting and fact-filled experiences. Tours will be announced within the Association's annual schedule and are open to the public for a nominal fee. Check the current Programs schedule for upcoming events.

A variety of local tours may also be arranged on-demand for special occasions such as student classes. If you want more information or are contemplating either type of tour for a group, please contact the Association 6 months ahead of your anticipated date. Self-guided tours are also available.

Annual Dinner

This annual event began in 1998 and provides an occasion for members and friends to join together in a slightly formal setting, to enjoy an excellent dinner and conversation, and be entertained by an inspirational and educational speaker.

The dinner takes the place of a regular monthly public meeting and also includes our annual awards ceremony wherein we honor those who have shown particular dedication to preserving our local history. Invitations are sent to the membership a month prior to the dinner, and members are encouraged to bring family and friends. For more information about our past dinners, please visit the Annual Dinners page.

Annual Picnic

This annual affair as been an opportunity for members and friends to get together informally and to meet people representing other societies from surrounding communities. It is a come-when-you-can, leave-when-you-must outing.

As of 2009, the Association has decided to combine our Annual Picnic with the Boileau Festival in the Spring. We will continue to list the event among our regular schedule. For more information, please visit The Friends of Boileau.
